Mary's Loop

Mary's loop is an extremely scenic ride. There are great views of Rustler's Loop and Horse Thief Bench as well as the whole west end of the Colorado National Monument. If you've read the section on Horse Thief Bench, then you've read about the climb that starts Mary's Loop.

The first few miles of Mary's loop climbs up the cliffs that you can see so well above Rustler's loop. Once up on the plateau, the trail has very little altitude gain or drop for much of its length. It skirts the edge of the cliffs and gives you great views of the valley below.

Eventually the trail turns away from the cliffs and heads back into the hills. That makes for some nice climbs and descents. There isn't anything too technical here, but there are a lot of nice sections to ride.

Eventually Mary's loop leads back North of the main ridge and drops you down onto the dirt road that leads back to the Loma parking lot. Mary's Loop is best done in combination with one or more other loops described here or in the Mountain Bike Fruita Guide.
